By the end of the morning\, we will have developed confidence in the properties of acrylic paint\, how to avoid creating mud\, and layering your compositions using this fun and vibrant medium. SUMMARY:Wheal Treasure P&Q Club (1st Tuesday Mthly)
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to one of our many Cornish Craft Barn Patchwork and Quilting Groups. We run several regular groups that meet once a month.  If you’re interested in joining one\, please contact us or book in to attend if we have spaces available.   \n\n\n\nThis is an all-day session where you can work on quilting projects on machines or by hand with other quilters who are looking to share ideas and experience and can provide guidance for each other – plus lots of lovely chat\, cake and coffee!  It is not a ‘tutored’ session but a room filled with abundant expertise from which to seek assistance. We can offer short demonstrations or mini projects from time to time if this is something the group decides they want!  \n\n\n\nThe session runs from 10am – 4pm but feel free to attend as much of this as you can to fit in with your other commitments. Lunch can be bought from the cafe with a 10% discount.  Plenty of parking outside and we can give you a hand to get your machines upstairs to the training room if needed.  \n\n\n\nWe have several new Janome quilting sewing machines available to borrow for the day if you need one or find it easier than bringing one in from home. The cost is £4 per day. Please book ahead or let us know if you need one so we make sure we have enough available. We ask for payment quarterly in advance £15 per session\, so £45 which covers three sessions for you. We close for August so will not run a session in August. For the remaining 11 months; you are allowed a 2 month ‘holiday’ from the sessions if you can’t attend. We can sort out these details and dates with you in person at the group\, but for now booking a space secures your spot and gives you three sessions\, whether those are June\, July and September or later is up to you.

DESCRIPTION:In this workshop series\, we will apply the principles of numerous well-known children’s authors and illustrators\, review good practices from our carefully curated CCB library of children’s books\, and unlock our creative illustrative skills through explorations with unexpected materials during each session. We will draw from our imaginations\, capture the essence of a story\, and produce our visuals around a well-crafted narrative\, whether with rhyme\, alliteration\, playful repetition\, or even wordless. Let the illustrations tell the story! \n\n\n\n\nJune 27th\, July 4th and 11th – 10am till 1pm includes 10% café and shop discount on the workshop days. \n\n\n\n\nIn this fun\, hands-on-from-the-start workshop series\, you will get to: \n\n\n\n\nApply good practice for a wide variety of picture book types\n\n\n\nDevelop a plot structure and storyboard it\n\n\n\nWork on character development (written and design)\n\n\n\nLook at writing techniques and styles\n\n\n\nCreate a book dummy for words and pictures\n\n\n\nDevelop your style and approach for page spreads\n\n\n\nExplore illustrative techniques and unusual materials\n\n\n\nDesign your book cover\n\n\n\nCover final artwork and book design file for submission\n\n\n\n\nPlus much more. You’ll leave with the knowledge and tools to produce an end product to be proud of\, share with family and friends\, or even publish.* Please note this workshop series will typically be run in blocks of three weekly sessions (often either side of school holidays. The first three sessions (9 hours total – 3 hours x 3 sessions) will set the scene fully and establish the tool kit required. Full book completion\, however\, will naturally require more than 9 hours. Subsequent blocks of three sessions will be offered\, allowing ongoing development and aspired completion to use the result as a Christmas gift.  🙂
